At Lakeview Dental Care, wanting a straighter smile no longer means you have to put up with traditional braces. Not only are they uncomfortable, but it feels almost impossible to clean your metal braces. Food can get trapped in the brackets and wires and even leave stains on your teeth, making it difficult to be happy with your newly aligned smile.
Unlike braces, Invisalign® trays are nearly invisible, easy to clean, and put less strain on your teeth without sacrificing any of the orthodontic benefits of braces. Straight teeth are easier to brush and floss which decreases the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Additionally, orthodontic therapies can prevent teeth from rubbing together, which can cause damage, and even stop head, neck, and shoulder pain caused by TMD.
What Is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® is a form of orthodontic therapy designed to straighten your teeth without the need for brackets or wires. The invisible plastic alignment trays are placed seamlessly over your teeth and are removed just as easily before meals or special occasions. When you have your Invisalign® trays in, they are transparent and barely noticeable.
Invisalign® therapy gradually straightens your teeth using a series of plastic aligners. Each tray is designed to shift your teeth incrementally, meaning you may go through about 20 to 30 sets of alignment trays through the course of your treatment.
While Invisalign® is designed to treat minor and moderate orthodontic problems, this treatment may not be able to treat the most severe cases. The doctors at Lakeview Dental Care can help you determine if traditional braces or clear aligners are right for you and your needs!

Invisalign® vs. Traditional Braces
Compared to metal braces, there are many benefits to wearing Invisalign’s clear aligners such as:
- Transparent appearance
- More comfortable than braces
- Require fewer visits to the dentist or orthodontist
- Easily removable
- Easier teeth cleaning
- May shift your teeth even faster than braces
The first step of your Invisalign® treatment begins at one of our New Jersey locations. Your dentist will take precise records of your teeth and work with Invisalign® to craft your treatment plan.
Once the plan is finalized, your dentist will give you your initial set of aligners. In order to maximize your progress, dentists recommend wearing your Invisalign® aligners for no less than 22 hours a day. Keep in mind that each new set may not fit exactly right at first but your teeth will shift gradually to fit the alignment tray.
Every few weeks, our dentists will provide you with new Invisalign® trays that best match your current progress. Additionally, your dentist may add attachments or bonding resins to help guide any problem teeth that do not shift from the pressure of the aligner alone.
Similar to regular braces, you will need to maintain your smile once your Invisalign® treatment is complete. Dentists typically recommend a retainer to hold your teeth in place and prevent the need for any more orthodontic care in the future.
